women composers, 9th century to present
A colorful 18" x 24" poster features a time line of 200 representative women composers from the 9th century to the present day, each listed by country, overlaid on a central imaged of a French horn superimposed upon a subtly inflected background liberally sprinkled with musical symbols. Bordering the central image is a Necklace of Facts which relates particular accomplishments of individual women composers from many countries over the past six centuries.
An educational tool as well as an attractive work of art, the poster is the result of a collaboration between two Minnesota artists, internationally-known composer Judith Lang Zaimont and award-winning water-colorist Carol V. Gray.
