The Huntingdon Trio
Collage; Masques
(separate CDs)
The Huntingdon Trio is a group of three
extraordinarily talented individuals with a wide range of musical interests.
In addition to performing standard literature for their modern instruments,
they commission new works, transcribe and arrange others, and perform
Baroque music on original instruments. More than 20 composers have written
for the Trio, which has toured in the United States and Europe, performed
on WQXR (New York) and National Public Radio, and recorded for Leonarda
and CRI. The Trio is affiliated with Bucknell and Drexel Universities.
Diane Gold, flutist, is a member of the
Pennsylvania Chamber Players, and has performed as soloist with various
orchestras in Pennsylvania. She teaches at Bucknell University and Juniata
College and is principal flutist with the York, Altoona, and Nittany
Valley Symphonies. Ms. Gold has recorded with the Alard Quartet and
has served on the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
Cellist Lloyd Smith has been a member of
the Philadelphia Orchestra since 1967. He is a member of the Wister
String Quartet and has participated in the Marlboro Festival. Mr. Smith
was music director of the American Society of Ancient Instruments from
1977 to 1980.
Rheta Smith has a double career. As oboist
she has played in the Pittsburgh Symphony and the Bethlehem Bach Festival
orchestra; she is presently principal oboist with the Pennsylvania Ballet.
As a pianist and harpsichordist she appears regularly with the Trio.
